About Us
About Us
Before opening up my private practice, I worked as the Director of Bereavement for a Hospice Agency, and I also worked as a Supervisor for therapist interns at a Child and Family Community Agency. Since the inception of my private psychotherapy practice, I was accepted and still serve on the panel as an in-network provider for multiple insurance companies.
Specialties
Through working with a variety of children, adolescent and adult clients over the years, I began focusing on specific areas of interest and gaining further education and experience working in these areas. My specialties include: Anxiety Disorders, Bereavement/Grief, Blended/Step-family challenges, Divorce, OCD, Parenting Skills, Relationships Issues and Self-esteem.
Treatment Approaches: I use an Eclectic approach when treating clients, which means that I utilize different approaches depending on what will be the most beneficial for the particular client and situation. Among the approaches I use the most are:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-This approach involves teaching you how to change your thoughts in order to change your feelings.
ERP-Exposure, response prevention is a specific treatment for children, adolescents and adults who have OCD.
Humanistic-This approach deems unconditional positive regard as paramount to the healing process.
Imago- I use this approach in Couple's treatment to teach couples communication exercises to improve understanding and decrease conflicts.
Mindfulness-I utilize meditation and imagery exercises to help you learn how to stay in the moment, decrease anxiety, relax and improve clarity of mind.
Psychodynamic-This approach involves helping you to gain insight on how past situations relate to current behaviors.
Spirituality-Exploring your personal spiritual and/or religious beliefs and utilizing concepts including: prayer, gratefulness, forgiveness and God have been found to greatly increase success in overcoming addictions, anxiety, depression and OCD as well as other mental health issues.
